Description

SAMESH provides support, education and training about Sexual Health and HIV for men who have sex with men and people living with HIV, as well as services for the broader LGBTIQ community, in South Australia.

SAMESH was in need of a complete overhaul of their old website. With most of the people going to their site under the age of 30 and significantly more of their users on their phones, SAMESH wanted to move to a more mobile-friendly and 'younger' targeted design. This was first achieved by updating their logo and adding a little more dominant colour. Once this was established then the site design and colours would be based on that. Ensuring to keep the information still the focus of the site but also including bright colours and eye-catching images.

The site also has a downloads section and an events section. Both of these allow the user to get the information they need of find a Q&A or training to help learn what they need to learn. All aspects of this site are publicly available for all to see. This site is built in WordPress on the Sage framework, it also leverages plugins to assist in the functionality of the events and other core functions.

The difficult thing about this project was the amount of content, there was quite a lot of text that needed to be displayed along with downloads, video and other media. The challenge was displaying it in a way that was visually appealing to the user as well as making it easy to read on mobile and tablets. The remaining functionality was fairly straightforward with events and the downloads working as default browser-based functions.
