This term gets thrown around a lot and most of the time people don’t really know what it means for something to go viral. They think if something has a lot of views means that it has gone viral. For something to go viral, it needs to become very popular by circulating quickly from person to person. This means that it actually needs to move from person to person.
Not just a counter but be shared around on social networks or by email. You will know if something of yours is viral because you will start to see it on other people’s walls, which brings us to the next point. Something becoming viral is something that can’t be stopped. It’s not something that can easily make people stop sharing and is at the point where it is moving everywhere without ever trying.
The best example I can think of is when I saw a blog post I made for a company and was forwarded it by a friend of mine who said that I would enjoy the article. He didn’t know that I wrote it but just knew it would be something that I like and found it on their website. This is just one level of viral videos and there are many other levels.
The first is very basic and is basically what I mentioned above and that it one or two cases. The second is one that is national and is covered by a national newspaper or something like that. The third is international and all this take is just finding out about it from another country.
As you can see there are different ways something can be viral so before you classify yourself as viral or a video you have seen as viral just remember what it actually means.
